FIGHTING CABIN FEVER   Leave a comment

flu_man_sick_bed_thermometer_mouth_blue_rmI think cabin fever is about one of the worst maladies an active person can suffer from. It’s worse than the flu. The flu goes away after a week or ten days but cabin fever hangs on for a few months.

I’ve always been an active person. I wouldn’t doubt I’m a bit hyperactive. I like having something to do. Staying busy keeps me occupied and out of trouble. I need all the help I can get with that.

When the weather turns cold, I have to improvise and find something to do that doesn’t require being outside for any length of time. Being an avid target shooter, sometimes I park myself in front of my loading bench and process empty fired cases. I have a shed outside where I keep my casting equipment to make bullets. I might go out to the shed, fire up my casting pot and heater and run off some bullets.

That’s all very well and fine but the problem with that is after a while, you run out of fired cases to work on or you get so stocked up on bullets, it’s ridiculous to make any more. Eventually, I wind up back here in front of my laptop.

So, I sit here trying to think of something I can do to stave off the boredom. Doing exactly what I’m doing now helps to some degree. I’m not exactly physically occupied, but at least my mind has something to do. That’s probably the most important thing for me to keep busy. If it’s not, I get in trouble just as sure as the sunrise.

I have revised my theme here to allow for comments. The comment option does require an email addy and name, but the option is there. If you have a particularly good way of dealing with cabin fever, I’d sure like to hear it. I’m sure there are others that would, also. Who knows, you might save mankind with a simple suggestion. I know this kind of man could use some help.
