People wonder why the courts are so backed up and why it takes so long for a case to go to trial. I realize it takes awhile for attorneys to get cases prepared, but there’s another reason it takes so long. Silly and frivolous lawsuits tie up the courts.
Case in point (no pun intended): 2 NJ men sue Subway over short footlong sandwiches.
I’m serious, this is real! Some bonehead goes to a Subway sandwich shop, buys a footlong sandwich and then decides to measure it? I wanna’ ask this clown “Do you not have anything to do?” I remember my mother telling me “An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.”
So this idle, mindless idiot throws a tape measure on his footlong sandwich and discovers it’s a half inch short of the advertised 12 inch length. “Whooo, boy! I’m gonna’ own Subway when this is over! Maybe I can get Eric Holder to take the case for me.” I wonder if I can find a face palm emoticon.
It amazes me how some people will go to these lengths to make a buck. Ever thought about gettin’ a job? What a novel concept! Actually working to generate an income! Who’da’ thunk it?
If you ever really HAVE to hire an attorney to take a party to court for a good and justifiable reason, be prepared to hear that your case won’t be on the docket until 2024. While you’re waiting, drop by Subway and grab a sandwich. And leave the damn tape measure in the truck.
